A meeting was held at the headquarters of the High National Elections Commission, which included the Chairman of the Commission’s Board, Imad Al-Sayeh, and members of the Commission’s Board, Abdel-Hakim Al-Shaab, Rabab Halab, and Al-Aloubakr Marada, in addition to Zainab Al-Nour Abdel-Karim, Director of the International Democracy Foundation in Libya, and her accompanying team.
This meeting is “the first between the Commission and the International Democracy Foundation (DI), where strategies and work rules related to supporting the electoral process in Libya were discussed, and possible aspects of cooperation between the Commission and the Foundation to support the democratic path in the country were discussed.”
Democracy International (DI) works to support democratic processes and build institutional capacities around the world by implementing projects that focus on strengthening governance and community participation. In Libya, DI is implementing the “Voter Outreach for Fair Representation” project, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with the aim of strengthening the electoral process. This project aims to provide technical assistance and develop institutional competencies within the High National Elections Commission to ensure the organization of transparent and inclusive elections that reflect the aspirations of all Libyan citizens.”
