The election of Moses and his birth asked the rabbi

a question

Peace and happy holidays!

I have a work on the birth of Moses and the whole story with Egypt and I have an issue

“Why does God specifically choose Moshe who is limited (stutters) and not his brother Aaron who is much more qualified to speak with the people and with a king (much more suitable)?”

“Why exactly does D choose Mogbr and not his older brother?”

“And why is it detailed at the beginning of chapter 2 in five names about the Levite person who takes an Ishav from the tribe of Levi?”

Answer

Hello

Regarding God’s choice of Moses and not Aaron, it is clear from this that with all the greatness of Aaron the priest, Moses was on a completely different level, and was the only one fit to reach the level of prophecy that no man had ever achieved and bring the Torah to Israel.

Regarding being ‘heavy of mouth and heavy of tongue’ (it is not written stuttering, and not necessarily that this is the meaning of the verse) I recommend studying the third part of the Sermons book of the Rabbinate, which deals with this topic.

Regarding the birth of Moses, I recommend studying chapter 16 in Sefer Gevorot Ha’ah by the Maharal from Prague (the chapters after that also deal with Moses).

Good luck and happy holidays
