For several weeks now, the magic of Christmas has been present everywhere. And, when we say magic, we mean all those decorative elements that we find both on the streets of our cities and towns, and in our own homes.

Christmas trees, Nativity scenes, lights of all kinds, Christmas wreaths, Easter flowers, and other elements flood different places until, normally, after January 6, Three Kings’ Day, which marks the end of Christmas for most people, although many say that, as the saying indicates, ‘until San Antón, Easter is’.

Sayings aside, Christmas decoration is something that many people take more seriously than it seems, wanting their home to look as beautiful and festive as possible. So, lights are usually put on in the windows, on balconies, terraces, of course, on the tree, around a door, and a long etcetera, since decoration is something very free and creative.

Without a doubt, the lights seem essential in this environment but, unfortunately, they have a problem which is not well known to most people.

This is stated in an article by ‘The Sun’, which addresses an investigation carried out by the broadband provider Zen. It is a finding that states that Christmas lights interfere with the WIFI networkcausing it to slow down, cut off or even stop working completely.

Depending on the quantity, its effects can be amplified

Following the claims of this research: “A few lights may not have much impact, but When you have hundreds of them in your house, their effects can be amplifiedpotentially causing interference with your Wi-Fi signal and ultimately dropped connections.”

But how can simple little lights hinder WIFI at home, the office or anywhere else? As explained in the British magazine, these luminous rows, in large quantities, are capable of create electromagnetic fields that interfere with wireless broadbandthat is, with the WIFI network.

Furthermore, these interferences would be added to those already known to be caused by other devicesthat we have at home such as the microwave, oven, some lamps, baby monitors, stereo speakers or even some refrigerators.
