The meeting was attended by a group of intellectuals and specialists in the field of archaeological and historical research, and a group of dignitaries from the region.
During the ceremony, it was announced that Prince Faisal bin Salman’s directive was issued to name one of the main streets of Madinah, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Ansari, in honor of his scientific and practical career in the field of history and archeology, and in commemoration of his efforts and contributions that had regional and global repercussions.
His Highness, the Emir of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah region, also spoke about the virtues of the late, pointing out that the Kingdom lost, with his death, one of the most important pioneers of academic work, a symbol of archeology, and a high-class historian of the history of the Arabian Peninsula.
His Highness praised the role of the late in his leadership of archaeological excavation projects in Al-Faw village (southwest of Riyadh) for more than two decades.

Al-Ansari also announced during his speech the family’s desire to implement the will of the deceased and to donate the library of the late, which includes valuable books, literature and references, in addition to the library of his grandfather, Sheikh Muhammad al-Tayyib al-Ansari, the scholar of the city and its jurisprudence, which is rich in manuscripts and literature, to Taibah University, in order to facilitate it for researchers and students. Then the historian, Dr. Saad bin Abdulaziz Al-Rashed, spoke during his speech about the fragrant memories left by Dr. Al-Ansari in Saudi society, and said: I felt this effect when I visited many villages and cities in the regions of the Kingdom, where I found elderly people remembering Al-Ansari’s visits to archaeological and historical sites in their homes And Dr. Al-Ansari has honorable positions in international, continental and regional scientific seminars and conferences. He believed in the necessity of highlighting the historical and cultural identity that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is proud of, and what God has honored it with by being a place of revelation and the incubator of the Sacred House and the Prophet’s Mosque, and the kiss of Muslims and the destination of their hearts, and his faith was sincere It is based on scientific foundations proving that the Arabian Peninsula is the center of early human civilizations.
After that, the audience watched a documentary film that recounts the upbringing of Professor Al-Ansari and his scientific and practical career in the service of the history of the Arabian Peninsula, his role as one of the most prominent pioneers of archeology in Saudi Arabia, his rich contributions and great discoveries in the national heritage, until his death in the capital, Riyadh – may God have mercy on him – last March and from Then he was buried in Baqi’ al-Gharqad in Medina.
At the end of the ceremony, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman gifted the family of the deceased a painting “portrait” by the Saudi artist Diaa Aziz Diaa, which was received on their behalf by his daughter, Dr. Lubna Al-Ansari.
The Saudi historian and archaeologist Dr. Abd al-Rahman al-Ansari, who was born in Medina in the year 1935 AD, is considered one of the first Saudi archaeologists and historians, and he had many prominent contributions to the development of archaeological studies at King Saud University, as he established the first academic department of antiquities and museums at the university, He also discovered the archaeological site in the village of (Al-Faw), supervised the excavations there, and was a member of the Shura Council in its first and second sessions. In appreciation of his efforts in archaeological excavations that contributed to preserving the Saudi heritage, and for his role in exploring many archaeological sites and highlighting them as a cultural depth and an authentic component of human culture and heritage.
