The Biscayne businessmen have today recognized the work carried out by the General Deputy of Bizkaia, Unai Rementeria, in the eight years that he has led the Regional Government of the territory. Rementeria will leave office after the elections on May 28 after presiding over the Vizcaya Provincial Council for two legislatures.
Until now, the Biscayan employers had not dedicated public recognition to a general deputy. Recognition is not casual or formal. Biscayan businessmen and especially the organizations that represent them have always felt Rementeria as a “very close” institutional manager, with whom they have been practically totally in tune. The still deputy general, for his part, has always shown his unwavering support for the social role of businessmen and has tried to promote the creation of new companies and also the investments of those that are already established in the territory. Furthermore, the tax sphere has been one of the sections in which Rementeria and Cebek have always shown themselves to be closest, although the deputy general has not been able to implement all his tax reform initiatives. In some cases because his own party has prevented him from doing so and in others because it has not been possible to reach an agreement with the Socialist Party, with which he has shared a government.
