The weekend and the latest attacks take us back to the previous rounds. The Renovation Contractors Association reports hundreds of phone calls and messages to the renovation contractors and the association’s hotline last weekend.

Many customers who fear the security situation following the attacks over the weekend are afraid to bring in Palestinian workers with work permits and unlike previous rounds, this time there are also requests to postpone jobs, change teams, as well as expressing concern and canceling the arrival of workers from the sector who hold an Israeli identity card.

Eran Siev, head of the Renovation Contractors Association, adds that: “If in the past, in times of security crisis, we would receive calls from customers regarding their concern about bringing Palestinian workers with a work permit into their homes. This time, they are also asking that workers from the sector with Israeli citizenship not come.

Siv also added that: “This is a step up that we haven’t experienced in a long time and we have to remember that for the renovation contractors it is an almost impossible task to find replacement workers at such a short notice.” At the same time, the Association of Renovation Contractors even warns that if the precarious security situation continues. This may cause a delay in existing works and the delivery of apartments.
