The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, confirmed his unwillingness to negotiate with the Rapid Support Forces as long as the war continues, stressing his commitment to the Jeddah platform and the necessity of implementing obligations under it.

Al-Burhan said in a speech during his visit to the Omdurman military region: “The armed forces have no problem with negotiations, but how does this process take place and in what form? As long as the war continues, we will not negotiate, and as long as there is an occupation of citizens’ homes and the cities of El Geneina, Nyala, Zalingei, Khartoum, El Daein, and Al Jazira, we will not negotiate.”

He added: “If the rebels wish to negotiate, they must first take their forces out of these cities and gather them in specific areas,” noting: “We are committed to the Jeddah platform, but the other party must implement the obligations it has in accordance with what was signed in Jeddah.”

He continued, “The rebellion and its collaborators at home and abroad wanted to impose their own agendas and enable them to rule the country unjustly, but the will of the people and their army was above all else, as all the armed forces were involved in supporting the popular resistance in confronting these plans.”

Since last April 15, violent and large-scale clashes have continued between the Sudanese army forces and the Rapid Support Forces in various areas of Sudan, with both sides trying to control vital headquarters, including the Republican Palace, the headquarters of the General Command of the Armed Forces, the Rapid Support Forces Command, and a number of military and civilian airports.
