DIG/ According to information from the Ministry of Water, Forests, Sea, Environment, in charge of the Climate Plan and the Land Allocation Plan, the province of the Estuary is home to the largest mangroves in the world which can reach up to 60 meters.

However, they are increasingly threatened by human activity.

Sotheir disappearance could significantly affect erosion patterns, nutrient cycles in coastal areas and the habitat of certain species.

This is why the government decided to protect them through a 20-year framework agreement signed on June 8, 2023 with the Arise group.

A titre d’information, Gabon’s mangrove forests cover approximately 2500 km2 and provide invaluable ecosystem services to the local population.
