Ursula van der Lane, President of the European Commission, announced yesterday that EU airspace would be closed to flights by Russian companies or Russian-owned aircraft – including private jets. These aircraft will not be allowed to land, take off or fly over EU territory.

At the same time, European airlines are halting their flights to Russia for at least one week, with the Lufthansa Group being the first to announce this, and at the same time European airlines are also refraining from flying in Russian airspace.
Already on Saturday, a number of flights of the Lufthansa andKLM Entered Russian airspace, and were forced to return to home ports, following which the EU decided to suspend all flights to Russia.
