The EU gives BGN 15 million to fish companies, a maximum of BGN 2 million per project

The European Union allocates BGN 15 million for companies that want to modernize their fish products enterprises or build completely new ones. The measure is open under the Program for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture 2021-2027 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

as well as the decarbonization of the processing processes, which will lead to a reduction of the negative impact on the environment in connection with the green transition, the department specifies.

“The purpose of the measure is to promote the supply of quality fish products with high added value to the market through the introduction of innovative processes,” explained Deputy Minister of Agriculture Deyan Stratev.

Only sole traders or legal entities registered under the Trade Act will be eligible applicants.

The total number of points that a project can get is 160. Accordingly, 30 points are given for improving energy efficiency and/or investing in renewable energy systems. For applying methods reducing the negative impact on the environment, including waste treatment, 10 points are obtained in the ranking, for introducing innovations in terms of products, services, processes, business models or methods, using a patent, utility model or know-how -how candidates will again take 30 marks.

Those who implement diversification of production by introducing new products with high added value will take an additional 10 pts.

Building the capacity of employees in the enterprise, including training abroad for the exchange of experience, as well as the improvement of safety, hygiene, health and working conditions are again evaluated with 10 points each. 20 are given for investments aimed at using sustainable packaging from clean, reusable, recyclable material. In case the project proposal receives less than 50 points, it will be rejected.

The minimum amount of admissible financial aid for one project will be BGN 30,000, and the maximum – BGN 2 million.

The reception will take place in three stages

The first one ends on September 17 at 5 p.m. The second application date is from September 17 to November 16 and the last chance is until January 15 next year. Submission of project proposals will be done entirely electronically. (24 cups)
