Time.news – In view of the summer, and thanks to the progress of the vaccination campaign, lhe European Commission has issued new recommendations to Member States to ease travel restrictions between EU states.

In detail, the people fully vaccinated and in possession of the EU Covid digital certificate they should be exempt from travel testing or quarantine from 14 days after receiving the last dose. The exemption from the restrictions should include even people healed who have received a single dose of a double dose vaccine. Where Member States accept proof of vaccination in order to derogate from the restrictions on free movement in other situations as well, for example after the administration of a single dose, the exemptions should apply under the same conditions, to those in possession of certificates of vaccination, without discrimination of nationality.

To ensure family unity, minors traveling with their parents should be exempted from quarantine when their parents do not have to undergo quarantine, for example because they have been vaccinated. Children under the age of 6 should also be exempt from travel-related tests.

In addition, people recovered from Covid, holders of a certificate, should be exempt from travel-related tests or quarantine in the 180 days after the positive PCR test.

Non-essential trips are strongly discouraged dark red areas. The Commission also proposes to adjust the thresholds of the ECDC map in consideration of the epidemiological situation and the progress of the vaccination campaign. For the areas marked in orange the proposal is to increase the threshold of the cumulative notification rate of Covid-19 cases by 14 days from 50 to 75. Similarly, for the red areas the proposal is to adjust the threshold interval from the current 50 -150 to the new 75-150.

Finally, the Commission proposes a standard validity period for tests: 72 hours for PCR tests and, where accepted by a Member State, 48 hours for rapid antigen tests.
