DW reported on the EC’s intention to adopt new sanctions before the anniversary of the elections in Belarus.
The publication, with reference to a high-ranking official of the European Union, notes that in parallel with the preparation of sanctions in connection with the violation of human rights in Belarus, another package related to the complicity of Belarus in Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine is being discussed.
As the main adviser of the Belarusian democratic leader Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya told BPN Frank Vyachorka, According to his information, “a couple of dozen people” will be added to the list of persons subject to individual restrictive measures.
Brussels did not recognize the results of the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus. At the moment, six packages of sanctions have been introduced against the Belarusian authorities, the last one was adopted about a year ago.
