The EU, in connection with Iran’s attacks on Israel, will consider the possibility of new restrictive measures against Tehran, said the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax.

“In the future, we will think about additional sanctions against Iran in close cooperation with our partners. In particular, regarding drone and missile programs,” the head of the EC said in a statement published on Sunday on the European Commission website.

Von der Leyen made this statement after participating in a video conference of G7 leaders in connection with the worsening situation in the Middle East.

“We express our solidarity and support for the people of Israel and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to their security. Iran’s actions risk triggering uncontrollable regional escalation. This should be avoided. We will continue to work to stabilize the situation. We call on Iran and its proxies to completely cease attacks,” the chairwoman said EK.

At the same time, she noted that “all parties should exercise maximum restraint.”
