The European Parliament waives immunity in Puigdemont – First Floor

(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, MARCH 09 – The European Parliament has waived the immunity of the three Catalan MEPs: Carles Puigdemont, Clara Ponsati and Toni Comin. For Puigdemont there were 400 yeses, 248 no and 45 abstained. Against Ponsati 404 yes, 247 no and 42 abstentions and finally for Comin 404 yes, 247 no, and 42 abstentions. The waiver of immunity opens the way for a new examination by the Belgian justice of the extradition requests issued by Spain against Puigdemont and Comin who live in Belgium. Ponsati, on the other hand, lives in Scotland, a country that has suspended this examination, pending the decision of the MEPs. (HANDLE).
