He ‘mediator case‘ is still alive and has reached Europe. The European Prosecutor’s Office has requested the Internal Affairs Service of the Civil Guard to provide the reports -so far, four- on the contracts that, for the judge, could have been obtained through Payments to General Espinosa Navas when he directed the unit of the GAR-SI Sahel Project, implicated in the ‘Mediator case’.
The general’s project Espinosa Navas It was financed by the European Union and managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Public Administration and Policies (FIIAPP). The General, already retired, was the only one involved in the plot of the ‘Meditor case’ in prison until, three weeks ago, the judge of the National Court released him on provisional release with precautionary measures.
It is not the first time that the Prosecutor’s Office requests this information
The European Public Ministry already requested this information from the Benemérita weeks ago. The total amount of these contracts amounts to 263,000 euros.
In addition, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office itself, which undertook the investigation relating only to these contracts, has also requested that the statements that have already been made in court be provided.
The rest of the plot, presumably led by the former Canarian socialist deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo -known as ‘Tito Berni’- remain in the Investigating Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
According to the summary of the ‘Mediator case’, the businessman Antonio Navarro Tacoronte -alias ‘the mediator‘- and General Espinosa would have devoted themselves to collect money, trips and parties in exchange for political favors granted for his influence by dedicating himself to the “commission of crimes related to corruption”.
