The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has announced that a competitive examination will be held on June 19 to fill the 16 vacant child protection officer posts in the Social Security Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Applications are being received from the last one day to participate in this competitive examination.

It has been announced that only graduates in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Child Protection and Criminology will be eligible to participate in this work and the first paper of the two-paper examination will be conducted in English only.

Meanwhile, protests erupted over the DNPSC exam being conducted in English only. Anbumani Ramadas has said that it is not fair in any way that the Tamil Nadu Civil Service Selection Board has announced that the first paper of a competitive examination to be held in Tamil Nadu should be written in English only.

Furthermore, this announcement of the Tamil Nadu Civil Service Selection Board is completely contrary to the declared position of the Government of Tamil Nadu. He also said that the Government of Tamil Nadu has been urging the Central Government to ensure that all competitive and entrance examinations conducted by the Central Government are conducted in Tamil only.

DNBSC has announced that the first paper for the examination for the post of Child Protection Officer will be held on June 16. The question papers for Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development and Criminal Options will be set in Tamil and English.
