The example of the economic boom and urban expansion of the Moroccan Sahara, an unparalleled territorial development (Franco-Swiss writer)

Strasbourg – The example of the economic boom and urban expansion of the Moroccan Sahara constitutes an unparalleled territorial development, underlined Jean Marie Heydt, author and observer of international policies.

“The example of the economic boom and urban expansion of the Moroccan Sahara demonstrate that in just two decades, the Kingdom has been able to create an unparalleled territorial development for the benefit of the women and men of the southern provinces,” said the Franco-Swiss academic in a statement to MAP in reaction to the speech addressed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Nation on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Green March.

The author of the book “Mohammed VI, the vision of a King: actions and ambitions”, recalls that if the Green March allowed, half a century ago, to recover the Moroccan Sahara and gave hope and a future to the populations of the southern provinces, “today it opens up perspectives on an international scale, to the States of the Sahel, to the sub-Saharan peoples and more generally to the entire Atlantic strip of the African continent”.

Recalling the values of loyalty, courage and patriotism that marked the glorious epic of the Green March, the Franco-Swiss writer noted that the Royal Speech demonstrates to the international community the importance of Morocco’s distinctive brand in terms of an integrated value system. This, he added, “generates the necessary impetus for openness to others and the development of solidarity.”

And Mr. Heydt noted that it is these same ancestral values which will contribute to everyone putting their heart into the work to successfully carry out the projects and reforms carried out under Royal leadership.
