On August 1, the opening of the exhibition “Azerbaijani Carpet: Dialogue with Nature” took place at the Miodrag Dado Djuric Art Gallery of the National Museum of Montenegro. The exhibition is dedicated to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in Baku. The exposition presents 24 valuable examples of art from the collection of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum. These include carpets, carpet items and sketches that reflect the rich culture, worldview, lifestyle and traditions of our people from the 18th century to the present day.

As reported by Day.Az, at the opening of the exhibition, the Minister of Culture and Media of the Republic of Montenegro Tamara Vujović, the director of the National Museum of Montenegro Yakša Čalasan and the director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum Amina Melikova welcomed the guests of the exhibition, spoke about the relationship between Azerbaijan and Montenegro, the cooperation between the two museums, and interesting aspects of the exhibition.

The pileless carpets “verni”, “zili”, piled “Agajli”, “Shikhli”, “Jeyirli”, “Alpan”, as well as from carpet products chul, heybya, mafrash lamyagabagy differ from each other in color range, delicate texture and unique patterns. These unique exhibits, created in the carpet weaving centers of Shirvan, Guba, Baku, Gazakh, Karabakh and Tabriz, are rich in polysemantic elements, stylized zoomorphic and plant ornaments.

Among the works of art presented to visitors of the exhibition, a special place is occupied by the author’s sketches and carpets woven on their basis, of the modern period. These are the works of the People’s Artists of Azerbaijan Latif Kerimov, Kamil Aliyev and Eldar Mikailzade.

The exhibition “Azerbaijani Carpet: Dialogue with Nature” is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum and the National Museum of Montenegro.

The exhibition “Azerbaijani Carpet: Dialogue with Nature” will last until August 31.
