The expansion project begins to connect the metro network with Madrid Nuevo Norte
The Community of Madrid has announced that the Metro expansion that will connect the network with Madrid Nuevo Norte will begin in November 2023 with the drafting of the project. This new phase begins after the award of the informative study and the construction project. It is estimated that the works will start in 2026 and finish in 2030.

The Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid, Jorge Rodríguez, has met with the president of Crea Madrid Nuevo Norte, Álvaro Aresti, to analyze the project to expand the metro network to this new urban development. As has been advanced in the meeting, this extension will begin in November 2023.
After the award of the informative study and the construction project, the next step will be taken next month with the drafting of the project, to which 4 million euros will be allocated. This phase will be followed by the design and construction phases. According to the planned plans, the works will begin in 2026 to be completed in 2030. Once this action is completed, the Madrid Metro network will have three more kilometers.
This line, which will be the first automated in the network, includes the construction of three new stations: Business Center, Fuencarral Sur and Fuencarral Norte. On its route it will link with the next Chamartín transport interchange, which will benefit more than 100,000 daily travelers. The trains will run without a driver or staff on board and will be programmed from a control center, with the process and systems with which they already operate in several Asian countries.
