BGN 245 million has been provided for compensation for the industry for the high electricity prices, pending notification from the EC, said the Minister of Tourism
On Friday, I went to speak personally with representatives of the branch in Sunny Beach, because it is an expression of respect for the sector, said the Acting Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev on bTV. The main topic was state aid for high electricity prices. The notification from the EC is awaited. When giving state aid, the EU must say: it does not violate common rules and competitiveness. The EC must make a decision within two months. The ERPs have already issued the invoices for July without the charged compensation, because there is no notification yet, said the Minister of Tourism.
The money is provided by the state budget – this is a financial resource of approximately BGN 245 million in the Energy Security Fund. The moment the notification comes, the money will be transferred immediately and will be on a monthly basis, Yevtim Miloshev assured.
Regarding the tourist guarantee fund, he said that this is something very good for the end user, for the tourists who use the services of the tour operators. A project has been prepared to amend the law on tourism with regard to this fund. This final product is a function of the working group in which all sector representatives participate. 2 weeks ago, the Ministry of Tourism uploaded it for public discussion. There have been disagreements regarding texts, this is a matter of discussion. When they are done, the working group and I will discuss everything. I believe that there will be such a fund, said the acting minister of tourism.
Until today, the expectations for a better tourist season are justified and I continue to think that this season and the year in terms of visits and tourist trips in Bulgaria will be a record since such statistics have been made, said Evtim Miloshev.
