The committee in charge of handover and receipt from the Presidential Council announced the completion of the administrative handover procedures, saying that the “former governor” refused to hand over.

The committee added that the new board of directors, headed by Mohamed Al-Shokri, will begin its duties tomorrow, Wednesday, explaining that the control agencies documented the governor’s refusal in their minutes, according to the statement.

A source from the Central Bank of Sudan told Al-Ahrar that the governor, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer, received the handover and receipt committee assigned by the Presidential Council, headed by the Minister of Transport in the Government of National Unity, at the Central Bank’s headquarters.

The source said in a statement to Al-Ahrar that the committee handed Al-Kabeer the decision of the Presidential Council to form a new board of directors for the Central Bank, adding that Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer responded by handing them the response of the House of Representatives rejecting the presidential decision.

The source pointed out that the Central Bank promised to send the Presidential Council’s decision officially to the House of Representatives, explaining that the meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere and adhered to the normal protocol standards in terms of reception, farewell and discussion ceremonies.

The Presidential Council had issued a decision to form a new board of directors headed by Mohamed El-Shokry, basing its decision to dismiss El-Kabir on Parliament’s assignment of El-Shokry as governor of the Central Bank in 2018.

Two days before the presidential announcement, the House of Representatives issued a decision to suspend the decision to assign Al-Shukry as governor of the Central Bank, because the period of his assignment to his duties had passed without him starting his work as governor of the bank.

The presidency also decided to continue implementing the council’s decision to appoint Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer as governor of the Central Bank and Marai Al-Barasi as his deputy.
