The extreme wave of high temperatures continues in Greece today. Trains stopped due to damage to the railway network, reports BNR.
Trains from Patras to the Peloponnese have been suspended due to rail damage caused by high temperatures. There are sections with melted rails, the management of the railway company told the media.
Repairs will take place when temperatures drop. Until then, trains will not run. They also check the status of the entire rail network.
Until the end of the week, temperatures will remain around 40 degrees, reports the Civil Protection. The risk of fires is slightly reduced due to a reduction in wind strength. However, citizens and tourists are urged to be cautious and inform the authorities if they see a fire.
The authorities have also released drones that register fires in their initial stages.
