In a meeting held on Wednesday June 28 in the Executive Tower, the delegation of the Broad Front presented various measuresamong which he highlighted the request for OSE fee waiver for homes and businesses whose monthly water consumption is less than 1,000 pesos. However, the president’s response Luis Lacalle Pou was negative, arguing that OSE is currently carrying out important works and that this is not the right time for a tax waiver of this nature.

President Lacalle Pou said he understood the proposals presented, such as the call to the National Emergency System (China) and the implementation of support measures for the agricultural sector. In relation to these issues, he expressed his willingness to carefully analyze these proposals.

The exoneration of OSE invoices is not possible, says Lacalle Pou

About the exemption of OSE fees for homes and businesses with lower consumption, the president was clear in his refusal, emphasizing that the company must face a set of works necessary to guarantee a quality service. Despite this, the representatives of the Broad Front, headed by its owner Fernando Pereira, reaffirmed their position and their insistence on the proposal.

One of the arguments raised by the broad front is that if households are promised quality water, they cannot be charged for a service that does not fulfill that promise. In this way, the political party maintains its position and will continue working to achieve the Tariff exemption for those homes and businesses that spend less than 1,000 pesos a month on water consumption.

The meeting was attended by several representatives of the Broad Front, including Vice President Verónica Piñeiro, the Mayor of Canelones Yamandú Orsi, the Director of Environmental Development of the Municipality of Montevideo Guillermo Moncecchi, the President of the Interior Commission of FA Aníbal Pereyra, the director of OSE for the Broad Front Edgardo Ortuño, Senator Liliam Kechichian and Deputy Lucía Etcheverry.
