Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication (Culture Department) and the municipality of Assilah, this event will bring together around 300 personalities from the worlds of politics, thought, literature, media and visual arts, indicates a press release from the Foundation.
It will be marked by the organization of several conferences, as part of the 38th edition of the Al-Mu’tamid Ibn Abbad Open University, which will deal with the various developments experienced in the countries of the South.
On the program for this edition are conferences dealing with several current topics, notably “The border crisis in Africa: the thorny paths” (October 13-14), “The Arab elites of the diaspora: the challenge posed and the role possible” (October 17-18), “Religious movements and political scene: what fate?” (October 21-22) and “Values of justice and democratic systems” (October 25-26).
The Forum Foundation will also organize, in partnership with the Policy center for the new South, two conferences, under the themes “Artificial intelligence: what governance in Africa in the era of digitalization?” (October 23), and “Cultural inclusion and reduction of inequalities in the use of cultural resources” (October 28).
As part of the “Creativity Tent” space, a tribute will be paid to the Moroccan writer, novelist and poet Mohamed Achaâri, former Minister of Culture (October 30), with testimonies which will be presented by more than 20 Moroccan and Arab academics and men of letters.
This event will also be punctuated by the organization of a signing ceremony for the book “Passion and will: a bet for the media, culture and politics” by the Moroccan journalist and publisher, Mohamed Berrada.
Like previous editions, the Moussem will also see the organization of plastic arts workshops, with the participation of several artists from Morocco, Bahrain, Senegal, Syria, Belgium, Spain, France , Italy, the United States of America and Great Britain.
The exhibition rooms of the Hassan II Center for International Meetings will host a collective exhibition celebrating 45 years of engraving and artistic printing, which will show a selection of works produced during the 45 years of the engraving and printing workshop. printing organized each year as part of the Moussem d’Assilah, as well as an exhibition-tribute to the artists Malika Agueznay (Morocco) and Akemi Noguchi (Japan), entitled “Chemins Croissants”.
The Palace of Culture hosts, for its part, a collective exhibition of works of engraving, and an exhibition by the Moroccan painter Abdelkader Melihi, in addition to an exhibition of the children of Moussem. These exhibitions are held from July 13 to December 31, 2024.
This event will also be marked by the organization of the literary expression and writing workshop for children (October 20-27).
It should be noted that the summer session of the 45th edition of the Assilah Cultural Moussem was organized from July 5 to 27.
The summer session was marked by several artistic workshops, the creation of murals, and symposia on “contemporary art and the discourse of crisis” and “the art market and the value of creation”, as well as three thematic conferences on “The history and evolution of engraving”, “Introduction to the history of engravings in Morocco” and “The history of printing and publishing in Morocco”.
