“We saw more goals than the previous season.” Ismael López was one of the 600 fans who filled field number 1 of the Mareo Soccer School yesterday, the scene of Sporting’s first preseason training session. The new campaign excites both the youngsters and the veterans who accompanied the Gijón team in its coming-out. The expectation was such that even after the training session had already started, fans continued to enter Mareo’s number 1 training ground. Eager to see the footballers up close and two clear and repeated ideas among the attendees: “We need signings and we have to aspire to fight for the play-off”.

The Serbian player was one of the names that was on everyone’s lips, during the game he divided the fans by trying to score a couple of times with his heel. Fans like Jorge García said: “make it easy, this is about scoring goals, not doing acrobatics”. Others, however, applauded the battering ram’s actions with a smile that reflected his amusement.
Some fans like González also trust that Víctor Campuzano this year can enjoy continuity and contribute great minutes of play. With the debate open, everyone ended the day in the corner of the field near the changing rooms, where the team handed out autographs before going to the shower. The last to leave, Yáñez and Varane.
