Oren Kaniel, CEO of AppsFlyer, went on maternity leave for the birth of his fourth daughter. Yesterday, he posted a video from the security cameras on social media, documenting what happened when he tried to install a lamp in the wall – and received more than two million views on Twitter alone.

“I shared it at first with a few people and saw how much happiness it brought them,” Kaniel told the mako website about the decision to share the video on his social platforms – Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.

In the title of the video he wrote in English: “So far this has been a productive maternity leave”.

It all started when Oren drilled a hole in the wall to hang a lamp in the baby’s room, but blew a water pipe in the wall in front of two of his small children. “I’ve been at home for two weeks, and I’m always looking for something to do at home. I like to fix things, especially with the children”, said Kaniel. “I got to hang the lamp we got for the girl’s birth – and you saw what happened next.”

How did you manage to arrange it?

“I have a neighbor, Ron, who I want to thank. He has golden hands and a heart. He left everything, arrived within half an hour, just fixed the hole and fixed the water and electricity for me. I still have a hole in my house, but at least there is electricity and water. My partner, Lisa, also heard me yelling, and within a record time of 15-20 seconds, closed the water valve.”

How do you explain that the video was so successful?

“Everyone can see themselves in this situation, everyone has made renovations in life. The camera today is available on every phone, but still when you open it – it’s usually for a fabricated video. I like authentic things, which allow you to look at life from the side and also at the difficulties of everyday life. The video really made people happy, and it’s fun these days.”
