The father of the 10-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted in her home in the south strongly criticized this evening (Friday) in an interview with Moab Vardi the prosecutor’s office’s decision to impose only five years in prison on the boy who attacked his home: “We will set the country on fire, the naked king. The sentence imposed on the attacker is five years in prison and a fine of NIS 70,000. Against the backdrop of public criticism of the sentence, the district court in Beer Sheva published the full reasons that led to the sentence being passed on the 10-year-old attacker. The judges cited a number of factors which, according to them, acted partly in favor of mitigating the punishment, and partly in favor of aggravating the sentence.
The judges stated that “to this day, in fact, the defendant has not been able to go deeper and show empathy for the suffering of the minor in the incident.” In addition, they emphasized the seriousness of Hotak’s actions and called them “every parent’s nightmare come true.” They also mentioned the fact that even after the severe attack, the attacker returned and committed additional property crimes, a few days after the incident.
