A man who was wanted by the FBI for threatening to kill US President Joe Biden onlinewas killed this Wednesday during the operation in which his arrest was attempted, in the city of Provo, state of Utah.

Authorities reported the death of Craig Deleeuw Robertson, facing three federal charges, including one for directly threatening the president.

Last Sunday, Robertson published a message in which he alluded to Biden’s visit to Utah this Wednesday and He anticipated that he would “dust off his M24 sniper rifle.”

Court documents include photos of the suspect with these weapons and dressed in camouflage clothing.

The ABC News chain -quoted by the Ansa agency- said that the investigation began in April and that the Secret Service was notified by the FBI in June.

The threats had been deemed “credible”, an official said.

The FBI in Salt Lake City detailed that the shooting in which Robertson died was around 6:15 local time (9:15 in Argentina), at a residence in Provo.

“The FBI takes seriously all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members,” the FBI said in a statement.

He added: “In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is being reviewed by the Inspection Division from the FBI. As this is an ongoing matter, we have no further details to provide.”
