Coming from the inter-college tournament organized by the Beninese Athletics Federation, the best Beninese athletes (girls and boys), particularly in the U-16, U-18 and U-20 categories, take part in a training camp. Organized on the facilities of the Stade Général Mathieu Kérékou in Cotonou from December 4 to 15, 2023, this camp, which takes place in doubles, aims to give the necessary basics to these athletes (around forty) selected by the national technical direction of the Federation Beninese athletics (Fba). This, to make them confirmed athletes for the development of Beninese athletics.

This initiative of the executive committee led by Viérin Dégon takes place under the leadership of experienced technicians including the French technician Alexandre Kerber, specialist in sprinting and hurdles. This moment of giving and receiving is an opportunity to subject these athletes to several exercises capable of keeping them in shape and giving them techniques capable of helping them in continental and international competitions. Happy to give his know-how to this category of athletes, Alexandre Kerber welcomed the initiative of the Beninese Athletics Federation to organize for the benefit of this category of athletes these training camps which will allow them to have basics in order to reveal Beninese athletics. “I am in charge of athletes in the U-18 and U-20 category in sprint hurdles with whom during these ten days of training we will work on the techniques that will allow them to be fit for competitions, we already have the five nations tournament which will take place in Ivory Coast and the athletes in this category must be ready to validly defend the Beninese colors,” he declared. Proud to take part in these training camps, Godness Ayi, a sprinter from Parakou, thanked the members of the executive committee of the Beninese Athletics Federation for initiating this camp for their benefit, “it is a beneficial initiative and I I hope to have the necessary tips that will help me improve my running technique and have resistance in the different competitions in order to improve my times,” she informed. These two camps, of which the camp (DOA Olympic Dividend Athletics) is entirely financed by world Athletics, brings together athletes who came from almost all the departments of Benin.
