More than 10,000 people have been detained by Ecuador’s security forces in the last 48 days of the state of emergency and internal armed conflict, declared at the beginning of the year by President Daniel Noboa against the violence unleashed by crime gangs on a large scale. national.

This was revealed by the so-called Security Axis (made up of military, police and Government authorities), in the last daily report on the results of the 126,436 operations carried out during the state of emergency.

In total, 10,134 people have been arrested, 268 of them on charges of terrorism, the source indicated, specifying that nine individuals identified as “terrorists” have been killed in the operations.

In joint operations, the military and police have seized 3,040 firearms, 19,919 explosives, 214,435 bullets, 1,353 bullet magazines and 4,192 knives. 979 vehicles, 1,147 motorcycles and 28 boats have also been seized, in addition to $253,553.14 and 91,118 gallons of fuel.

Statistics indicate that in the joint operations three police officers have died in the line of duty and no casualties have been recorded in the military ranks.
