This major event, initiated by the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) and the Moroccan Chamber of Cinemas, orchestrated by the Nelio Agency, will mark its first edition by offering a single rate of 30 DH per screening in the various cinemas in the country, thus making cinema accessible to all, indicates a press release from the organizers.
During these four days, cinema will be celebrated in 20 theaters and multiplexes spread across 7 cities of the Kingdom. More than 50 carefully selected films “will transport viewers through a rich cinematic journey.”
As a preview, the highly anticipated film Triple A, by Moroccan director Jihane El Bahhar will be screened, offering moviegoers a unique chance to discover this exclusive title before its official release, the same source said.
The 2024 Film Festival also offers a series of special meetings where the public will be able to discover the behind the scenes of the film industry by talking with directors, actors, and experts in the field.
This event is aimed at a diverse audience, ranging from students and young cinema lovers to families, industry professionals and fans of the seventh art, the press release continues, noting that everyone will have the opportunity to explore and appreciate cinema in all its facets, in an atmosphere that is both festive and accessible.
Through this approach, Morocco reaffirms its commitment to promoting and enhancing cinema, while making it more inclusive and accessible to all.
Supported by cinema operators and carried by partner cinemas, this initiative aims to unite all the players in the sector, from institutions to distributors, in a collective dynamic of promotion and dissemination of cinematographic culture, underlines the CCM.
“The Fête du Cinéma aims to be a space for discovery, sharing and exchange around the passion for cinema, thus offering the Moroccan public a unique and memorable cinematic experience,” the organizers emphasize.
This edition aims to strengthen the place of cinema in Moroccan culture, by making the seventh art more accessible and by creating moments of sharing and dialogue between different generations of spectators.
The Cinema Festival aims to be a real invitation to celebrate together the love of cinema, while actively contributing to the cultural development of the Kingdom, the press release adds.
Created in 1944, the CCM plays a crucial role in the Moroccan cinematographic landscape. Placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the CCM’s main mission is to regulate and support the film industry in Morocco, namely the regulation and control of the film sectors (production, distribution, exploitation), audiovisual production, support for the film industry, the promotion of Moroccan cinema and Morocco as a filming destination and the archiving of film heritage.
The Moroccan Chamber of Cinemas, as a professional association, brings together cinema operators, providing them with a platform to defend their common interests. It acts as a spokesperson for cinema operators with government institutions and other stakeholders.
