(24 News) The fifth day of Jamaat-e-Islami sit-in against inflation and electricity prices, there is a possibility of negotiations between the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami and the government today. If the approval is delayed, the government will be responsible for the loss.

Addressing the sit-in protestors in Rawalpindi, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the sit-in is starting outside Governor House Karachi, in the first phase, they will hold a sit-in in Karachi, then in Lahore and Multan. Demanding to conduct an audit, he said that they are giving the government 2 days, the demands will be met, Palestine will be celebrated on August 3 and Kashmir Solidarity Day on August 5.

He further said that the second round of talks could not be held between the government and Jamaat-e-Islami yesterday, Jamaat-e-Islami has placed its 10 demands before the government committee.

Concessions should be given, petroleum levy should be abolished, recent increase in the prices of petroleum products should be withdrawn, prices of essential commodities should be reduced by 20%, taxes on stationery items should be abolished immediately.

Cut government spending by 35% on non-development expenditure, end capacity charges and dollar-denominated contracts for IPPs. All agreements made with IPPs should be re-examined. Jamaat-e-Islami demanded that illegal taxes on agriculture and industry should be removed and the burden reduced by 50%. Industry, trade and investment should be ensured so that the youth get employment. Taxes on the salaried class should be abolished, the privileged class should be brought into the tax net.
