These goods are of varied nature: loincloths, sugar, fuel, hemp, oil, drinks etc. the police inspector indicated that these goods presented to the Gatumba brigade were only a sample, the others are still in the hands of the police and constitute evidence of the offense. He also announced that the files of the alleged fraudsters had been prepared and transferred to the public prosecutor’s office.
The permanent secretary at the Ministry of Finance welcomes this good collaboration between the police and the OBR in the fight against fraud. He specified that the seized goods will be entrusted to a commission which will be responsible for selling at auction those which can be auctioned and destroying the others which will be unusable.
For the Minister of the Interior, the fight against fraud is a prerequisite for development and it is a fight that the public authorities and the population have a duty to win.
Martin Niteretse thanks the population who have understood the benefit of fighting against fraud and continues to inform the services authorized to fight against this scourge.
The minister took this opportunity to call on traders who want to do their business and win, to abandon fraud because it is a practice which can cause them enormous losses. And, he insisted, the Government is not going to give in, it is rather decided to fight against this practice which only hinders the development of the country.
