TORINO – The long journey of Pupi Oggiano has reached its final stage. In fact, the national preview of “Against a polystyrene iceberg”, the film that closes Pupi Oggiano’s hexology on fear.
The Turin director began this journey in 2018, managing to make six films accompanied by six DVDs (the last one will be released in the summer), six CDs with the soundtrack and six novelizations. And speaking of novelization, a limited version will be available at the preview – with a collectible cover designed by Elvis DiPonto – of the book based on the film, signed by Corrado Artale and published by Buendia Books (like all 5 previous ones).
A route, that of Oggiano, which has some very specific characteristics. The six films are all self-contained, but seen as a whole they reveal some details that only those who have seen the previous stories will be able to grasp. And moreover, the underlying theme of the hexalogy is given precisely by the titles of the six films, which read one after the other reveal Oggiano’s conception of genre cinema. “Fear trembles against: Just a few more steps In the belly of the enigma And all the darkness around Will vanish forever Against a polystyrene iceberg”.
In this latest film, written by Oggiano himself together with all three screenwriters who accompanied him in this adventure (Antonio Tentori, Corrado Artale and Gabriele Farina) the cast is made up of Matilde Amato, for the first time on the big screen, Diego Casale, Maurizio Carlini, Anna Panero, Maurizio Terenzi, Athena Privitera and again Tita Giunta, Paolo Mazzini, Clarissa Allia, Alis D’Amico, Ilaria Monfardini, Fabio Farronato, Cristina Possidente, Omar Vestri, Elena Forno. And of course Osmar Santucho who once again (the last?) plays Inspector Terzi. The artistic cast, as well as the technical cast, will be present in the room at the preview and there will be an opportunity for the public to meet them and talk to them.
The story
The young Laura is the victim of a series of night terrors, during which she meets disturbing characters (which those who have seen the previous films of the hexalogy or read the books will have no difficulty recognizing). To try to stop the nightmares he decides to participate in a series of group psychotherapy sessions but the situation doesn’t seem to improve. Furthermore, the participants in the group sessions begin to disappear one after another. Is there a mystery that unites them? What is Doctor Des hiding? What role do Laura’s nightmares play? These are not the only questions that the young protagonist will have to find an answer to.
