Makkah: The final testing phase of the Makkah Bus project has been completed. The Unified Transport Center under the Makkah Royal Commission stated that the test runs were conducted on three, 10 and 11 running tracks in the area around Masjid al-Haram, which connect with many important places in Makkah.

Al-Shuhada, Al-Kaqiyya and Ja’tan are the main places on these routes. These routes have around 200 stops. 200 buses will run the service. There are two types of buses with a capacity of 85 and 125 passengers each. There are 550 drivers on full-time duty. The buses are equipped with fire fighting systems, first aid, security systems, surveillance cameras, collision avoidance systems, electronic screens displaying destination and time information and hydraulic system to facilitate boarding of people.

The largest and longest trial phase since the launch of the project in February 2022 has now been completed. With this, all phases of the Makkah Bus Project trial run have been completed. In the coming days, the unified center will release clear information about the routes and timings of the buses. As part of Vision 2030, the Makkah Bus Project is being implemented as part of reducing the traffic congestion in Makkah and providing better transport services for the pilgrims.
