The IDF announced today the end of the “Chariots of Fire” exercise, which lasted a month and simulated a variety of war situations and a combination of different units.
During the month, IDF forces, regularly and in reserve from the General Staff to the fighting forces at the edge, practiced dealing with challenges and erupting events in several combat arenas simultaneously, focusing on the northern arena.
This morning, with the arrival of all the forces in Israel, a military parade was held to summarize the exercise at the port of Haifa. The parade was led by the Chief of Staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi, led by the Commander of the Depth Command and the Commander of the Military Colleges, General Itai and Yarov, and with the participation of the Commander of the Fire, Brigadier General Ofer Winter and commanders and fighters returning from the exercise.
Multiple battlefields and transition from routine to emergency
In the first week The exercise practiced scenarios that emphasized the strengthening of the RAVMD defense, while dealing with combat in multiple arenas and operational outlines, and also examined the forces’ readiness to move from routine to emergency and to deal with erupting events.
The second week It opened with the Chief of Staff’s exam in a surprise format, to examine the readiness of the naval arm. There were also exercises to strengthen and defend the home front, transfer logistical equipment in combat conditions, prepare for deployment of forces and effective air defense – while strengthening defense on the northern and southern borders.

In the third week, The Chief of Staff’s’ examination was held in a surprise format, to examine the readiness of the Home Front Command and the Air Force for explosive incidents, including maneuvering in parallel with fire efforts with the cooperation of forces and forces in the field to strengthen defense on the northern border.
The Air Force carried out the ‘Lethal Arrow’ exercise, in which all the corps’ units participated and practiced combat in the northern arena, while dealing with additional arenas. Throughout the week, the Steel Former (162) held an exercise in the northern contour, the exercise was intended to prepare the division forces for ground maneuvering in the next campaign. As part of the exercise, changes and innovations were manifested that would lead to the negation of enemy capabilities and the fast and accurate closing of circles, the activation of fire, intelligence and advanced maneuvering capabilities at the front.
The first exercise of its kind in Cyprus
in the last week, A Transition to the Horizon exercise was performed in Cyprus, the first and unique exercise of its kind, in which regular and reserve forces participated in the fire alongside squadrons from the Air Force, additional special forces of the Navy and Land Arm and forces from the Intelligence and ICT Division in cooperation with the Cyprus Army. To intensify cooperation between the armies, Cypriot forces were trained at the Tze’elim Tactical Training Center together with the ground arm forces. Depth Command has commanded distributed efforts on operations to strike headquarters in the depths of enemy territory, in varying terrain routes, in collaboration with fire-fighting forces alongside air, sea and special forces.

“We finished a month’s practice a little while ago, and the last of the fighters have just returned to the wharf from Cyprus,” said the chief of staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi.
