The newly formed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab today inaugurated 10 ministries, including a woman. 8 of them are first time MLAs.
Purohit administered the oath of office to the MLAs by Governor Banwar at a function held at the Governor’s House in Punjab.
The Aam Aadmi Party won 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly and came to power for the first time with a simple majority.
Aam Aadmi Party’s Bhagwant Mann took over as Punjab Chief Minister last Wednesday. The MLAs took office on Thursday.
In this context, Muthalwa Bhagwant Mann posted photos of 10 MLAs taking office as ministers and congratulated them on Twitter.
Of these, 8 are first-time MLAs, including Baljeet Kol and Vijay Singla. Also featured are Hapal Singh Seema and Gomit Singh, last time MLAs and opposition leaders.
The law allows a person to sit in the cabinet with the first until 18 p.m. The first cabinet meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party will be held on Saturday afternoon after the inauguration ceremony.
