Having four cameras on the back of a phone is not exactly something new, let’s remember that there was a time when many brands boasted the same thing by simply incorporating low-resolution sensors. The story with the OPPO Find X7 Ultra is different, it has started incorporating four cameras with the same resolution of 50 Mpx and have been developed by Hasselblad.

The main sensor remains the most important one. In this case it is the famous Sony LYT-900 with a huge one-inch size to capture more light and information. This sensor belongs to the second generation of this model, more efficient and less hot. It has an f/1.8 aperture and optical stabilization (OIS). This camera is designed for ‘computational photography’ and OPPO has revealed the HyperTone image engine to take advantage of it, capable of finding the balance between bright and shadow areas without losing detail.

The second camera is the classic wide-angle one, although again it’s a 50MP sensor, a Sony LYT-600 with a 14mm focal length and autofocus, meaning it also works as a macro camera without the need for a dedicated sensor, with photos benefiting from the 50% reduction in lens flare. Interestingly, this sensor is smaller than the one used in the OPPO Find X6 Pro, but the company claims the photos it takes are similar thanks to advancements in this generation.

The real eye-catcher is the dual 3x and 6x periscopic cameras, a step that no company has taken before. This means that we have two cameras to zoom in on, instead of just one like on all phones with a periscopic camera. The explanation is that this way the phone is able to take photos with different zooms natively, instead of having to zoom in from a certain zoom level. This should mean that we can always take the best photo, since the camera app will switch from one sensor to another depending on the zoom level we want. Specifically, the 3x camera uses a Sony IMX890 with a focal length of 85mm, and the 6x camera uses a Sony IMX858 with a focal length of 135mm.

The OPPO Find X7 Ultra is presented as a high-end Android phone. So it has the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor that all high-end phones already use or will use, accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The screen is a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED panel manufactured by BOE that is capable of reaching a brightness of no less than 4,500 nits; that means it supports ProXDR, OPPO’s alternative to Ultra HDR. Otherwise, the battery is 5,000 mAh and supports 100 W fast charging with 50 W wireless charging.
