The twelfth season of StarDance finally kicked off on Saturday night! Ten dance couples have completed their first competition night and for the first time showed what is hidden in them. What is different this year, who charmed and who didn’t perform well?
This year’s theme is clear: space and stars. It was already visible on the first evening, when the couples performed a pre-dance together in shiny dresses as if from another planet.
This year’s pairs were formed on August 1 and have been training diligently since then. No one dropped out on the first night so far, so the atmosphere was a little more relaxed. Even so, the performances of all the participants were closely watched… They hinted at how they might perform in the rest of the competition. Of course, a lot can change in the coming weeks…
For the first time in the competition’s history, there are not four personalities in the judges’ chair, but only three. „Let’s face it, it’s just cheaper. And they also leave a smaller carbon footprint,” explained Marek Eben jokingly.
“You can look forward to cheerful uncle Gena, strict uncle Zdeňko and outspoken aunt Táňa,” presented Eben to the judges Richard Genzer, Zdenek Chlopčík and Tatiana Drexler. Jan Tománek, who was on the jury in previous years, is dancing alongside Ivana Chylková this year.

So far, a married couple has never faced each other in the competition, a snowboarder, kayaker (only kayaker Štěpánka Hilgertová) or a confectioner have never danced in it. “It’s pretty obvious behind the scenes,” declared Marshal Tereza Kostková at Pepa’s address. The fellow competitor stores the results of his art so well that Marek Eben began to call him the “calorie terrorist”.
Twenty-one-year-old Darija Pavlovičová is a historical Benjamin in the competition. She is the youngest actress ever to appear in it! In addition, gentle Darija looks perhaps even younger… When Zdeněk Chlopčík evaluated her performance, he disagreed and enrolled her only in secondary school. “That you feel good only 17, so much more energy will be needed in the future, it must fly,” he read to her.
Darija was the very first to dance. She dazzled in a sexy costume with knee highs and, together with Dominik Vodička, they danced a brisk dance styled according to the series Wednesday. “This song is snarling among the young,” Marek Eben noticed. „There was a series a year ago Wednesdayso it was such a trend,” explained the young actress.
They worked well with Vodička. “Tiny, tiny, they’ll be jacks,” the dancer praised himself before the dance. And indeed – in the end, Darija really “flew” a little in his hands. Genzer also blurted out that she played in a fairy tale Healing water and he is dancing with Vodička… As Darija revealed, the dancer himself is making fun of the funny coincidence behind the scenes!
Actress Ivana Chylková absolutely shone. The judges praised both the technical performance and the emotional side of the dance. She cut an elegant waltz with Tománek. She had already said beforehand that she was not looking forward to the waltz and the waltz at all, because she found the audience boring. In the end, it fit her perfectly and even a bunch of flowers landed on the floor for the first time. “Honzo, hats off to you,” praised Tománka Chlopčík. From the audience, Chylková was supported by her husband Jan Kraus (70).
The “calorie terrorist” confectioner Maršálek won everyone over with his positive energy and his sweet art. Although he and Adriana Mašková did not finish rehearsing until the evening before the broadcast, by nine in the morning he had already baked and prepared for everyone. He brought three big baking trays with goodies to the square! “Making others happy is very calming to me,” he confided.
“I like baking, the next time you bring me a recipe, I’ll add one extra point” Chlopčík tried it and Adriana Mašková immediately caught on. “Then bring more,” she advised the Marshal. It is true that extra points would be useful for the couple, because the rating was not much. Even though the jury praised that he “sews” things correctly with the Marshal, he still has a lot to improve on the technical side!
The charming Iva Kubelková and Martin Prágre earned one of the highest points for their cacha – 20 points. Tatiana Drexler was absolutely thrilled. “You had your knees outstretched, your arms outstretched,” the judge’s eyes shone and she called the couple’s performance one of the best performances.
Mom was watched from the audience by her daughter Natálka, a rising modeling star and Adam Mišík’s partner. „This is what it looks like when mom crashes in the washing machine.” Marek Eben commented on her address. „I tell her this all the time, so far she doesn’t like it very much, but one day she will definitely understand.” laughed Kubelková and admitted that she was surprised by the positive evaluation of the judges. She was expecting a big “brush”!
In addition to her performance, she was also impressed by how it suited her. Zdeněk Chlopčík fell directly in love with her legs… “You have beautiful legs, long,” he extolled her to the heavens and couldn’t take his eyes off her in a thrifty costume. „When two beautiful people meet, it’s great, and when three meet, it’s even better.” Genzer joked.
Tereza Mašková appeared on the dance floor as a pink flag! She wore a costume in the same shade as her bright pink hair, and her dancer Daniel Kecskeméti also donned a shirt of the same color. They cut the chacha together. On the very first evening, Mašková proved that she would be a tough opponent for the others – she dug her legs up to the heavens and the whole time she and Daniel were throwing almost euphoric smiles in all directions.
“You have such freshness, such dynamism,” Chlopčík appreciated Terezin’s natural energy. “So far the only dancer you knew exactly what you were dancing and enjoyed it” he praised her. “That sounds promising,” Eben was smiling.
The first eight of the evening and the most points from the jury – 22 – were earned by Eva Adamczyková and Jakub Mazůch. The jury praised the energy, but blamed the snowboarder for not being able to keep up with her partner and her performance gradually declining. Even so, she was included among the favorites.
Richard Krajčo and Dominika Rošková also earned the same number of points and the second top eight of the evening, who were the very last to reach the floor. Krajčo even cut out a few verses of his song after the performance Rubicon! But he admitted that dancing at a concert and in StarDance there is only a little difference…
Kayaker Vavřinec Hradílek and Kateřina Bartuněk Hrstková finished right behind them with 21 points. “Until now I hid my legs in my kayak, now the whole world will see them” he was worried about the transmission… But in the end it turned out great. Tatiana Drexler even scolded him that hiding his legs in something like a kayak was a shame in his case!
