The First Lady seeks support for the Prevention and Rescue of Women in Violence in Ecuador project.

For the second consecutive day, the first lady, Lavinia Valbonesi, continued with meetings in the United States in search of cooperation from various fronts for the project Prevention and Rescue of Women in Situations of Violence that will be implemented in Ecuador.

On his social networks, Valbonesi indicated that this Tuesday, February 27, 2024, he met with the former president of Colombia, Iván Duque, and the team at The Wilson Center, a think tank located in Washington. Although she did not provide further details, she noted that she also had an appointment with GMMB, an organization that works with international organizations to learn about the project to rescue women and children in situations of violence.

A day before she was received at the White House by the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden. “We have strengthened ties and committed to supporting this cause,” she said.

At the meeting, Valbonesi assured that he had «“the opportunity to exchange personal experiences and the importance of education, the main focus of the program to rescue women in situations of violence.”

He also had contacts with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF). The project ranges from the prevention of violence with education and training in their productive skills; restoration and equipment of reception centers; and the construction of a model center that responds to the needs of women.

The program will run for 14 months starting in March this year.
