The world’s first production car powered by solar energy will hit the market in a few months. The futuristic-looking solar car only reaches 65 kilometers per day using the sun, but that hasn’t stopped 48,000 drivers already ordering one in the US, where it will go on sale. The price starts at $35,000.

The tricycle of the American company Aptera Motors was recently “walked” in San Francisco. The secret of this vehicle is that it weighs 65 percent less than other electric cars, and due to its unique, aerodynamic design and reduced mass, the model only needs about 30 percent of the energy used by other electric cars.

In sunny locations, the car almost never needs to be plugged in, according to Aptera. When the car is charged, it can travel 600 kilometers with a full battery. Battery capacity is not yet known.

The model is extremely light and has a very low drag (only 0.13). The two-seater reaches a top speed of 177 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.

Although Aptera says safety has not been skimped on, this is not a real car, but a tricycle that weighs no more than 800 kilograms with the smallest batteries. one thing to keep in mind, though, because the company was founded in 2005 and in the meantime has gone bankrupt once, and probably has security issues surrounding the eventual European approval of its solar car.
