The first results of the investigation of the IL-112V crash in the Moscow region have appeared

by time news

On August 17, an experimental Il-112V aircraft crashed near the village of Nikolskoye.

Only now the first results of the preliminary investigation of the disaster have become known. Without revealing any special secrets, I will say: the fire of the right engine burned out the hydraulic system and control rods. The crew had practically no chance to survive. And you can’t jump with a parachute, and you can’t plan to the forest.

The crew was buried at the Federal military cemetery in Mytishchi without cameras and press. Test pilots Hero of Russia Nikolai Kuimov, Dmitry Komarov and Nikolai Khludeev were buried under the guards of honor and the performance of the Anthem of Russia.

… The disaster with the Il-112V began, it would seem, with an ordinary emergency. The right engine caught fire. The combustion chamber burned out. This happens all the time during trials. It is no coincidence that after the first series of flights, each aircraft is reworked, taking into account the comments that the test pilots reveal, and the second, third, and fourth modified series are released. This was the first batch of the Il-112V.

But this time, the standard fire extinguishing system could not cope – the pipes of the hydraulic system burned out, and the oil flared up.

This type of aircraft has a backup control system. These are cables and metal rods. They control the ailerons, rudder and elevator. In short, everyone except wing mechanization. And without slats and flaps, the plane cannot be safely landed. You can circle, producing fuel, even on one engine. And then, with lightweight tanks, rush to the ground at flight speed. But this is a high risk.

Misfortune never comes alone. The cables and rods in the “Ila” also burned out from the high temperature. The plane was doomed …

The Ilom disaster began with an ordinary emergency.

I know very well what the loss of a hydraulic system is. We on the An-72 (an aircraft of the same class as the deceased Il-112) in 1994 had just lifted from the Vorkuta airfield when a red liquid flowed through the left window. Broke the pipeline. The spectacle is not an entertaining one. This is only interesting to watch in the movies. “The helm immediately became heavier,” recalls sniper pilot, FPS aviation colonel Vladimir Talanov, who was then at the helm. “I barely turned the plane into the runway. Okay, the reserve cables worked. But the wing mechanization was only hydraulically. The speed was under 300. This is twice as high as the landing strip. But the runway at this speed will not be enough. Ahead is a ravine, and we have full tanks of fuel. We were already buried on the tower. And when I touched the runway, a miracle happened! On the remains of the hydraulics, the right cart braked. We were turned around like a compass, and rushed to plow the tundra. The second miracle is that we did not touch the standing sides, the weather station booth and the fuel and lubricants warehouse. “

From hitting the door of the pilots (I was sitting on a stool in the aisle and drinking, as it seemed, the last glass of vodka in my life) I lost consciousness. When I came to my senses, I grabbed my camera and began to work. I came out through the escape hatch in the tail. He took out cigarettes. He began striking a match and immediately received a blow in the ear. It was Talanov. It turned out that I was standing under the debris of the wing, and kerosene was pouring on top of my head. Volodya saved me. I am terribly grateful to him.

The third miracle with Talanov happened when exactly two years later, on the same side, he made an extreme landing at the northernmost outpost – Nagurskaya. The shear of the wind triggered a charge of snow. He hit the planes – and the plane flew head over heels. Volodya was saved by Norwegian doctors. They were able to launch an ambulance helicopter and took it to their clinic.

Volodya retired from aviation. Two accidents are not a good sign. Now he is engaged in the patriotic education of youth soldiers in the Krasnodar Territory. A worthy job. And the son followed in the footsteps of his father. Became the commander of An-74. I flew to the North Pole. And now he is the co-pilot of the Boeing 777. They say he will make an excellent commander.

I met with test pilot Alexander Kotelnikov in a cafe. Strong, smiling. But the eyes …

In the last five years alone, it has burned twice. The engine got up in the air five times and the hydraulics failed twice. Mastered 40 types of aircraft.

I saw his flight book. Crashed during tests on the Il-114 – the civilian analogue of the Il-112. Survived.

“I’m lying on stretchers in the hospital,” Kotelnikov told me then, “and the widows of my guys come to me. And they say: you are the commander, and they died. What could I tell them? Well? “IL-112”. Better in a year. When the pain subsides. “

And the pain will never subside. That is why I did not annoy the widows of the Il-112 crew. It is clear that their husbands were pure and selfless people, devoted to heaven.

And what will happen to the Il-112? The only flying specimen crashed. Close the topic?

Hero of Russia, Honored Test Pilot Magomed Tolboyev, answering this question of mine, was categorical: “Until the government decides on small aircraft, we will be marking time. Our skies are given to foreign aircraft. And if the sanctions affect Boeing and others Western products? our country”.

Yes, Boeings and Airbuses have long conquered our skies. They seem to have resigned themselves to this. And for the passengers there is a profit at all: the operating prices are lower than those of the Tu-204. And the tickets are, accordingly, cheaper.

And what about the little brothers of wide-winged liners? Even the Soviet An-24 and their military transport version An-26 are leaving the scene. Once upon a time, they provided regional transport to the “bear corners”.

Russia is somewhat similar to Canada. There is also no developed road network in the northern regions. But they found a way out. Hundreds of runways have been built. And you can get to the old grandmother in the “Cessna” in a couple of hours. Hand over the pies – and right there back …

This was the case in the Soviet Union. Pay three rubles and fly from the regional center to any village on the An-2. And now “An-2” are completing their resource in DOSAAF and in flight schools. “An-24” has 45 aircraft left for the whole immense Russia. Half is standing and waiting for spare parts. Recently I flew from Anadyr to Providence Bay by the Kostroma “annushka”. Other planes just don’t fly here. So you have to rent.

And the small sky was captured by “foreigners” – “ATR-72” produced by “Airbus” or Brazilian “Embraers”. The cars are good, but stupid in our conditions. Although it’s cheaper for airlines. And the spare parts will be delivered on time. And these planes break down less often. But they are as gentle as a movie star. Give them warm air before starting the engines! And they are not insured against frostbite of the planes. And a concrete strip is a must. And our “Anas” both land and take off from the ground. Soviet guests! Engine start at temperatures from -50 to +50. These are the planes we need.

– And who will replace the old An-24 and An-26 in our skies? – I asked then, in the Zhukovsky cafe, at Alexander Kotelnikov.

– “Il-114” and “Il-112”, – the test pilot answered confidently. – True, the 114th is a low-wing aircraft. And there is a danger that when landing on unpaved airfields, a stone can get into the turbine. The engines are under the wing. But this is what happened to me during the tests of the Il-76 laboratory aircraft with the latest PD-14 engine. I’m flying. I feel a blow in the area of the plane. The devices show the norm. Is it a bird? But which bird will fly in at 10 thousand? We landed. It turned out that the fan blade had collapsed. On a different engine, she would grind all the insides. A fire would start. And then we examined the engine, replaced the blade – and again into the sky! This “Pratt & Whitney”, as well as “Rolls-Royce” and never dreamed of. And one more thing – we had a unique regional airliner Tu-334. He sat down on unprepared airfields. Received certification, could even fly to Europe and America. But – did not go into the series. The riddle of the universe or someone’s interest?

– And the last question: is our aviation more alive than dead?

– Well, what are we flying for? I hope I answered your question?

We left the cafe. A civilian plane was flying over us.

– Boeing or Airbus? – I asked Kotelnikov, thinking to illustrate the maxim about the dying of our sky. “This is ours, MS-21,” the pilot said, not without pride. – We recently received several cars. We fly around. We put it on the wing.

The crew of the deceased “Ila” also put our aviation on the wing. He conquered the sky even from comfortable, but foreign liners.
