by time news

In Kemerovo, utilities and rescuers are eliminating the consequences of a heavy snowfall that hit the regional center tonight.

Trees broken under the weight of sleet and fallen down, broken wires, snow-water mush on the roads – this is what the city looks like now. By eleven o’clock in the morning, 128 calls were received by the Unified Duty Dispatch Service. Residents were in a hurry to report what the elements had done in yards, parks, squares and on highways. Specialists of the Kemerovo Rescue Service went to the addresses and examined the streets and courtyards. On the adjoining territories of high-rise buildings, specialists from management companies joined the work. It was necessary to cut down broken branches that pose a threat to people and parked cars.

In the Leninsky district of Kemerovo alone, nine brigades were involved. Almost three dozen specialists freed the carriageway, inner-quarter driveways, sidewalks from the fallen branches.

Broken branches of trees damaged several sections of the contact networks of urban electric transport at once. The wires were cut off on the streets of 40 years of October, Suvorov, Krasnoarmeiskaya and others. Normal operation of trams and trolleybuses on most city routes was restored during the day.

And power engineers – ten brigades and ten units of equipment – are restoring the power supply of residential areas, disturbed by bad weather. Due to the rampant elements on Sunday, over six thousand subscribers were left without electricity – 3.3 thousand in Kemerovo and 2.8 thousand in Promyshlennovskiy districts. In the afternoon, according to the energy grid company, 4.2 thousand people were deprived of energy resources. As specified in the press service of the regional ministry of housing and communal services and road complex, the situation is monitored in real time. Emergency teams are ready to fix all possible problems.

Due to snowfall, the situation on intercity routes has become more complicated. Social media users posted footage of a massive accident on the Kemerovo-Anzhero-Sudzhensk highway. Due to severe weather conditions, at least six cars were damaged here.

Heavy snowfall disrupted the operation of the Kemerovo airport. Morning flights to Moscow were postponed. And the planes that took off from the capital to Kemerovo had to land in Novosibirsk.
