Rome, July 7. (time.news Salute) – “Positive Food is the new globally sustainable labeling system that allows us and consumers to take a big step forward in the world of nutrition. Since 2015, immediately after the Expo experience, as the Milan Center for Food Law and Policy we have been working constantly to guarantee the protection of the right to food, which must be qualitatively adequate for everyone. Equity and the protection of the law in food systems are crucial issues, on which a large part of the well-being of the individual depends. Furthermore, the Center undertakes to certify every product that is offered to the consumer with credibility, making the latter as informed as possible. We are sure this is just the beginning of a food education revolution”. This was stated by Pierfilippo Giuggioli, professor at the Department of Italian and Supranational Public Law at the University of Milan and head of the Positive Food project during the presentation today in Rome (Piscine complex conference room of the Foro Italico) of the new food labeling system

“The Positive Food labeling model is a composite index that provides a synthetic score relating to the quality of food products according to a holistic and multidisciplinary logic” explains Stefano Corsi, scientific coordinator of the Positive Food project and professor at the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences – Production, Territory, Agroenergy of the University of Milan.

For the structuring of the indices – reports a note – several interdisciplinary research teams from the University of Milan worked, coordinated by professors Stefano Corsi, Riccardo Guidetti, Daniela Martini and Patrizia Riso, who developed a multi-criteria methodology on several levels , transparent and conceivably more understandable by the consumer. “This last aspect will be subject to validation in consumer targets to finalize the model optimization process” underlines Corsi. “Educating students on proper nutrition and healthy eating is one of the priorities of our Ministry – declares Paola Frassinetti, Undersecretary of State for Education and Merit – Food culture must be promoted in schools from childhood and we are working to ensure food education to become an important axis of civic education”.

“We are enthusiastic about the project and everything that awaits us – concludes Giuggioli – We are ready for the creation of a program operator and we are positive on the fact that the certification will see validation on the national territory and in various supply chains in the coming months. Our maximum commitment will be to provide consumers with shared and clear data and references, additional tools to make informed choices, making citizens and companies an active part in the ecological transition process for economic development that respects the environment and its sustainability” .
