Early Sunday evening, Apple released the first teaser trailer for the feature-length feature film about Formula 1 racing, in which Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt will play the main role. According to Variety.com, Brad Pitt will portray ex-Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes, who returns to the track in the jersey of the fictitious APXGP team. “Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston, now McLaren. They give us a good time on the straights. We have to fight in the corners. We will build the car just for that,” he says in the trailer. When asked how to make it safe, he replies that no one talked about safety.

The rest of the ninety-second video, which is accompanied by the song We Will Rock You by the band Queen, consists almost exclusively of footage from the real Grand Prix, where the crew filmed last year and this year. The pits of the fictitious 11th APXGP stable have always grown on the tracks. Her second driver will be played by Damson Idris, and the owner of the team will be played by Oscar winner Javier Bardem. The film also stars Tobias Menzies or Irish native Kerry Condon, nominated for an Oscar for best supporting role thanks to the drama The Fairies of Inisherin.

According to the British BBC, Pitt practiced racing in a modified single-seater similar to Formula 2. Among other things, the aim of the project is to strengthen the popularity of Formula 1 among the wider public, which has already been done by the Netflix video library with the documentary series F1: Desire for Victory. It started in 2019, the sixth season premiered this year.

The film with a budget of around 140 million dollars, equivalent to 3.2 billion crowns, was produced by Apple. She collaborated on it with real drivers and all ten Formula 1 teams. One of the co-producers is the seven-time British world champion in this racing, Lewis Hamilton.
