The first triplets born in Villa Clara this 2024 were released after reaching the required weight and after staying in the hospital for almost two months.

José Antonio, José Miguel and Alicia were born on July 25 and together with their parents Aracelys Fleites León and Yosami Álvarez Mora they returned home happily after their stay at the Villa Clara hospital.

A report from the state newspaper Vanguardia said this was the best present the children’s mother, who was celebrating her birthday on the very day they left home, received.

Residents of Calabazar de Sagua, in the municipality of Encrucijada, the aforementioned media say that the family begins a new phase now after 15 years they want to be parents.

“After the birth, the little children spent ten days in Nua Naíocht, then they were transferred to the Skin to Skin room, and today we finally returned home, to Calabazar,” explained Fleites, who spent more than four months into the hospital.

When he was at home he said that there is not much difference: “Jose Antonio is always the main voice, the first born, the one who screams the most, the one who is restless and the one who gains the weight most.”

For his part, he declares that José Miguel was very calm since he was in the womb. “He drinks his milk and adapts to any situation,” the mother told him.

About little Alicia, he said that “she provides an intermediate point, she is very patient and shows her warrior side. Of course, at three in the morning it’s like clockwork and it’s hard for me to put him to sleep. After that moment, go back to peace.”

Despite the happiness at the birth of the three little ones, the parents remember that the road to conceiving them was quite difficult. At first they tried all the infertility treatments available in Cuba, and when they did not get results, they did the legal and consent procedures on the island to undertake in vitro fertilization abroad.

The children’s father is a farmer and the mother is a midwife. The latter, despite being a doctor, admitted that living the experience of being a new mother was challenging and, at times, scary.

The doctor in charge of taking care of the children in the Skin to Skin room, Olga María López Popa, confirmed that the children have developed favorably and have exceeded the weight necessary to be ready and go home.

Now they will follow strict medical control in the Neurodevelopment consultation and other specialties to ensure their healthy growth, the doctor informed the aforementioned state media.

The “Mariana Grajales” Hospital has not had a birth of triplets since 2020, when three sons were born to Dayana Sifontes Linates, called Ángel Daniel, Joel Davis and Danis Joel.

Generally in Cuba, one of the last triplet births reported took place last April at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Hospital in Holguin. The medical institution performed the first cesarean delivery of the year’s triplets on the island.
