/ The Iraqi Football Association denied, on Tuesday, naming Iranian referee Ali Reza Faghani to lead the match between the Iraqi national team and its Vietnamese counterpart scheduled for next June 11 in the city of Basra.

The Federation stated in a statement received by Agency, that it “denies what is being circulated by a number of different media outlets regarding the appointment of international referee “Ali Reza Faghani” to manage the match between our national team and its Vietnamese counterpart in Basra in the sixth and final round of the sixth group of the double Asian qualifiers for the Asian Cup finals. The federation’s statement indicated that “the news is false and is not based on the truth,” explaining that “the naming of the refereeing crews and those supervising the matches will be announced by the AFC within a specific period on its official websites, and it will address the relevant national federations.”
