The football match degenerates in Trappes: a teenager at La Pitié-Salpêtrière with a fractured palate

by time news

The beatings were so violent that the teenager lost consciousness in the middle of the lawn. Several broken teeth, some sunk in his fractured palate… Saturday, March 25 at the end of the afternoon, a football match which opposed young people from Trappes (Yvelines) on the Youri-Gagarine stadium degenerated. The perpetrator of the violence, arrested last Tuesday, was sentenced to two years in prison, including sixteen months accompanied by a probationary sentence, we learned on Friday.

According to the information collected by the Élancourt police, an argument broke out during the match, following a game action. A player then requested the intervention of one of his friends. Arrived on the ground, the boyfriend punched the victim in the face.

Destabilized by the violence of the assault, the young player, aged 16, fell. As he tried to get up, the assailant reportedly did it again, this time kicking his face and head. So much so that the teenager lost consciousness.

Beaten up for having an “arrogant” attitude…

When he arrived at the André-Mignot hospital in Versailles, doctors diagnosed a fractured palate. Several of his teeth were knocked out, others sunk squarely into his palate. Faced with the seriousness of the injuries, the medical teams took the decision to transfer him to La Pitié-Salpêtrière, in Paris (13th). The medico-judicial unit (UMJ) prescribed him the equivalent of twenty days of total incapacity for work (ITT).

The investigation by the Élancourt police led to the arrest of three suspects last Tuesday in Trappes. Two of them are 16 years old. The third, who admitted to being the perpetrator of the violence, is 18 years old. He explained that the victim had adopted an “arrogant” behavior during the match.

Tried before the Versailles Criminal Court as part of an immediate appearance, the young man was sentenced to two years in prison, including sixteen months suspended. He will serve his eight months in prison under an electronic bracelet. The two minors were cleared.

Two other episodes of violence in the past six months

Ten days earlier, a futsal match hosted in the same sports complex had already been marred by violence. During a meeting between young people from Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, a player from Élancourt had received a violent slap in the back of the skull. He had gone home without talking about this episode but had suffered from a malaise during the evening.

Transported to the hospital, he had again lost consciousness in front of the doctors, who diagnosed a head trauma and a cerebral hemorrhage. Transferred urgently to Percy hospital, in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine), the young player was operated on and still has a neurological deficit. Arrested a few days later, the 17-year-old perpetrator of the violence was placed under judicial supervision.

Last October, during a match of the Paris Under-20 Cup, players from La Garenne-Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine) who faced the Étoile Sportive de Trappes were attacked by around thirty supporters , at the Gilbert-Chansac stadium. One of the victims had been hospitalized with a concussion. The father of another player, aged 17, had filed a complaint.
