The Central Bank of Libya announced that “the platform for reserving foreign currency for individuals is operating completely efficiently, and that the total reservations through the platform during yesterday and today, January 5 and 6, 2025, amounted to 36 million US dollars.”“.
The bank noted that “the platform’s reservation hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.,” and the bank confirmed that “the documentary credit system is also working at a good pace, and what was sold to commercial banks amounted to 169.3 million US dollars during yesterday and today.” “.
The Central Bank of Libya announced the start of activating the foreign exchange system for personal purposes for the year 2025, as part of the bank’s efforts to facilitate obtaining foreign currencies for personal purposes, in line with improving the financial situation and providing cash liquidity.
The bank explained, in a statement, that “4,000 US dollars will be allocated to each individual during the year 2025, with the possibility of adding the same amount at the end of the year, according to the available foreign exchange revenues.”
This decision aims to regulate and develop the local financial market, and give citizens the opportunity to obtain their foreign currency needs in an official and orderly manner.
The bank also indicated that this trend “reflects its commitment to achieving financial and economic stability and providing the necessary cash liquidity to citizens, especially in light of the current economic challenges.”
