Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that his country stands for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine.
As Day.Az reports with reference to “Qafqazinfo”, he said this at a press conference in Ankara after negotiations with his Belgian colleague Bernard Quentin.
“We discussed regional topics, including Ukraine. We, of course, want an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of peace in Ukraine. This war, taking place in the 21st century in the center of Europe, must end as soon as possible, and the migration, economic and other crises must end. We expressed our thoughts on this matter during the negotiations,” Fidan said.
Speaking about the situation in Syria, the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry noted that he “hopes that the Syrian people will build their own future as soon as possible.” “But for this, he needs qualified support from the international community. Turkey is doing everything possible to mobilize both its own resources and the resources of the international community for Syria. At the current stage, there is a certain consensus on quickly providing the Syrian leadership with economic, financial and commercial instruments that necessary for the reconstruction of the country,” he said.
Fidan noted that the issue of ensuring “the internal integrity of the new Syrian government, security, territorial integrity and political sovereignty” is of equal importance.
